- police on Wednesday said charges
- levelled against the self-styled godman by the 16-year-old girl were likely
- to be true. The police said they had not found any contradiction between
- the statements of the girl and evidences gathered during investigation.
- “The charges levelled by the victim have also been confirmed during the
- interrogation of warden and caretaker at
- ,” said deputy
- commissioner of police Ajay Pal Lamba.
- The police have also rejected Asaram’s plea seeking more time for making an
- appearance for interrogation on August 30.
- The hostel warden and a caretaker from the gurukul in Chhindawar where the
- girl was studying have been asked to appear before police on Thursday.
- Jodhpur police also dispatched its factual report of the case to the
- ministry of home affairs.
- “We have sent the detailed report in the Asaram case required by the home
- ministry,” a senior police official said.
- Meanwhile, sparking another row, Asaram’s son Narayan Sai said the teenage
- victim was “mentally unstable”.
- “She used to take around two to two-and-half hours to bathe. And even
- during recess while in Chhindwara gurukul in
- , she took 45
- minutes. She seemed to be mentally unstable. To solve this problem, the
- parents of the girl accompanied her from Chhindwara to Jodhpur to take her
- to Asaram Bapu,” Sai said, to his supporters in
