Sneha Singh, 25, Ranchi’s first radio jockey, who enthralled radio listeners of Jharkhand from 2008 to 2010, was found hanging from the ceiling of a hotel room in Munger district in Bihar.

She had been working for a non-government organization in Bihar for the past few months. She was there as part of the BRLP (Bihar Rajya Livelihood Project) which is Joint venture of Bihar Government and Government of India in association with the World Bank,

Police suspect it is a case of rape and murder as the body was semi-naked when they broke into the room. They had made calls on her cell phone which went unanswered. Police found her body in room number 101 and suspect foul play.

  We are investigating the incident as rape and murder. Things will only be clear after post-mortem reports, said Navin Chandra Jha, superintendent of police, Munger.

Forensic team of Bihar police is gathering evidence from her hotel room. From the call details of her mobile, police learnt that she had last conversed with a close friend for more than an hour. We have talked to the friend she had last talked to, Jha said.

Singh, a resident of Jamshedpur, had done her schooling from Dakshin Bharat Mahila Samaj School (DBMS) and her graduation from St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi. She had recently joined Jeevika, a non-government organization of Bihar government after completing her MBA from XISS.

Walter Bhengra, head of the department, Mass Communication and Video Production, St Xavier’s College said, It is a shocking incident. She was a brilliant student and an ambitious girl.

Joyee Ashwin Kachhap, a close friend of Singh, she was not a girl who would commit suicide. She was a person who would fight for the truth till the end.
